Compared to a recently sold Cartier Tank Francaise, this Cartier Tank Américaine is a bit leaner and more modern, but still shares some of the signature “Tank” characteristics. The Cartier Tank line was inspired by, you guessed it, tanks. While most watches of the early 20th century were inspired by aviation and later motor vehicles, this line represents the very rectangular tanks seen in WWI. Even the bracelet represents the shape of the rotating belt by which tanks move.
