Cannes Film Festival has only started and we’ve already been delighted with the most beautiful outfits and jewelry from the red carpet. From diamond-dripping looks to minimal jewelry -and even no jewelry at all- the 2016 edition of one of the most important film festivals has something to suit everyone’s tastes.

Diamond Ear Cuffs

Celebrities like Emma Watson, Gigi Hadid and Emma Stone have been pioneers in taking ear cuffs to a whole new level by introducing them in the red carpet dress. And the trend keeps growing, as we’ve seen in the first events of the 69th Cannes Film Festival. Julia Roberts stunned at the Money Monster photocall wearing a pinstripe jumpsuit by Givenchy, and the Serti sur Vide ear cuff by Repossi.

French actress Mélanie Thierry showed how ear cuffs can be suitable for both day and night, and can be combined with both daily outfits and cocktail looks as well. At The Dancer premiere, with a more relaxed, casual look and almost no makeup, she wore the Staple earrings by Repossi. At night, on the I, Daniel Blake red carpet, the actress wore rose gold and diamond ear cuffs, also by Repossi.

Emerald Charm

They are May’s birthstone and the favorite gem of many movie stars. And at the ongoing 69th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, emeralds have stolen the limelight. Julia Roberts and Julianne Moore were some of the celebrities that wore emerald jewelry on the red carpet. At the Cannes Opening Gala and Cafe Society Premiere, on May 11, Moore wore a pair of emerald and diamond gold drop earrings and an emerald ring from Chopard. The gemstones worn by Julianne Moore were mined sustainably, creating awareness on the brand’s ethical jewel program. And they matched perfectly her beautiful Givenchy Couture gown!

Ethical mining wasn’t the only cause defended on the red carpet: Julia Roberts hit the red carpet barefoot at the Money Monster Premiere, on May 12. Her choice can be read as an elegant -and comfortable- statement in the controversy over high-heels on the red carpet: In the last edition of the festival, many women were not allowed to enter a screening due to wearing flats. But her naked feet weren’t the only reason why Julia Roberts grabbed our attention. She displayed a beautiful emerald and diamond necklace and an emerald ring, also by Chopard. Her classic black gown by Armani Prive was the perfect choice to show off her beautiful Chopard emerald jewelry.

Minimal Jewelry

Minimalist jewelry is becoming more and more a big trend among celebs – and Cannes is not the exception. Blake Lively -one of the stars that are stealing the show at the French festival- delighted us with her simple and fresh look for the Cafe Society photocall, on May 11. The actress, who stars in Woody Allen’s most recent movie, wore a bold red jumpsuit by Juan Carlos Obando, and a minimalistic gold chain necklace. Blake’s flawless look is the perfect example of why less is more.

If it’s trends we’re talking about, Victoria Beckham is one to not lose track of. Apart from proving you can still look very feminine wearing a top and pants -a design from her own collection- the ex-Spice Girl showed how to look stunning with almost zero jewelry. The only piece she wore was a diamond bracelet by the festival sponsor, Chopard. And we can all agree she didn’t need more!
