About Graham Watches

Graham watches are known as “The English Watch of Switzerland”. Founder Eric Loth based the company off of famous English watchmaker George Graham, the inventor of the stopwatch. During the 1700’s, London was a thriving city with a developed business culture, and was one of the world’s first scientific societies. This proved to be perfectly fertile ground for budding inventor and watchmaker George Graham.

Graham invented many functions in watches which are still used today; most famously, the stopwatch. In addition, he developed a pendulum using mercury that increased a watches’ accuracy in extreme weather conditions. He also invented the Graham Escapement (then only known as the escapement, of course), which is still used today in precision pendulum clocks. The Graham Escapement also served as the first version of the famed Swiss anchor movement, very commonly used in the production of wristwatches.

When Eric Loth founded Graham watches in Switzerland, he based the company philosophy and watch designs off of the work and legacy of George Graham. Graham produces many limited edition models of highly accurate, orante watches, in addition to higher volume production watches. A recent limited edition watch, “The Moon”, from the Geo.Graham collection, focuses on the moon cycle, and retails for approximately $260,000. Other popular models include the Silverstone, Swordfish, and Chronographer.
