About Parmigiani Watches

Parmigiani Fleurier was founded in 1996 in Val-de-Travers by Michael Parmigiani. Parmigiani had been working toward developing his own watch brand since 1976 when he began restoring watches. Through this work, his knowledge of historical mechanical watches and clocks grew and increased his interest in watch-making. Parmigiani is considered to be a true manufacturer as the company handles every step of the watch-making process. Owing to its complete independence, Parmigiani is regarded as the only production company that specializes in luxury watches. 

The independence of this company played an important role in the style of Parmigiani watches. Regardless of whether the watches feature grand or simple complication models, the collections are easily recognizable because of their unique stylized designs. The basis of Parmigiani’s business is its unique collection of watches including the famous Tonda and Kalpa
collections. 

Parmigiani has both men and women’s watch collections all of which are created by hand and take a minimum of 400 hours to be completed. Parmigiani only uses semi-precious or precious stones as well as precious metals to create these watches. Only a few thousand watches are created every year by this company. As stated previously, the two most popular collections are the Tonda and Kalpa. Another popular watch from Parmigiani is the Bugatti 370. 

The Bugatti 370 was named Watch of the Year in 2006 by the Japanese Press and it is based on the Bugatti Veyron supercar. The watch’s design is similar to the transversal engine and it is mounted in 18 carat gold. This watch was created for drivers and to make the watch readable while driving, the face is placed vertically on the front of the case. Only 150 of these watches are made every year – 50 in each of the 3 available dial colors and each costs $200,000. In 2009, Parmigiani teamed up with the Italian Yacht Company Pershing to create the first Pershing Aquatic sports watches which are water resistant up to a depth of 200 meters.
