About the Tag Heuer Monaco

In the 1960s, watchmakers were racing to become the first to develop an automatic chronograph. With this goal in mind, Heuer partnered with Hamilton and Breitling to secretly work on an automatic chronograph project. These projects were under the radar as they did not want the competition to learn of their efforts. Heuer, Hamilton and Breitling released their new line of chronographs on March 3rd 1969 and held press conferences in New York and Geneva to reveal their new watches.  In 2009 in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Heuer Monaco, the Monaco Calibre 11 was released and it was a replica of the 1969 model. The first automatic chronographs created by Heuer were the Monaco, Carrera and Autavia. These watches were powered by Call 11, Cal 12, Cal 14 or Cal 15 movements. Heuer added more models to their collection of automatic chronographs including Silverstone, Daytona, Calculator, Jarama, Montreal and Manza models.

The TAG Heuer Monaco is a cultural icon and has been in production for more than 40 years. This watch offers a unique sporty design and remains one of the most popular watches from TAG Heuer. The design of the Monaco case is more of a cushion shape with interesting angles and curves. This beautiful design adds a unique touch to the overall look of this watch. Modern Monaco watches use sapphire crystals but they also still have the look of the acrylic crystals that were used in the earlier versions of this watch. These watches have similar design features to other modern watches with the pusher and the crown located on the right side of the watch.
The Monaco watch was designed with style and sophistication in mind. TAG Heuer spent a great deal of time and effort to perfect the design of this popular watch. This watch was also the first square-shaped watch that is also water resistant. In fact, the Monaco is water resistant up to 100 meters. Among the many striking features of the dial are the chronograph sub-dials. These sub-dials match the shape of the case which is a subtle but intriguing feature. The dial is very easy to read and the hour and hand markers stand out from the dial.  Lume is also used in the Monaco watches so you can read the time in dark conditions.

TAG Heuer has released several new watch models including the Monaco V4. This watch has a movement that is powered by belts instead of gears. The Monaco 69 has a traditional mechanical movement and a digital chronograph that also features a hinged mechanism to flip between two different dials. There are a variety of different Monaco watch models that appeal to a wide range of customers and the quality of these watches is simply unmatched.
