The 7 Mantras of Kickass Single Moms

We’re celebrating kickass single moms all month long here at Worthy. Of course, you don’t need us to tell you that you’re awesome for raising your kids, working in or out of the home and keeping it all together all by yourself.

Kickass moms already have running dialogues in their heads that keep them thinking positive on even the darkest of days. If you’re not already telling yourself these mantras, you need to start ASAP.

But even more than saying these things, you need to believe them too.

I got this.

Hell yeah, you do.

No matter what the situation, no matter how nervous she feels, the kickass single mom is telling herself not to worry. She’s got this. Doesn’t matter what the day brings, she’s going to handle it with grace, grit or finesse – whichever the situation calls for.

This is my problem to solve.

That’s right. It would be nice if some knight on a white horse would ride in and solve your problems, but that’s not going to happen, right?

No, you’re too strong and smart to wait helplessly for someone to rescue you. Instead, you’re going to solve this problem yourself, whether that be by finding the answer on YouTube or calling in the troops to get the job done.

If someone doesn’t like me, that’s their problem, not mine.

Ok my friends, this mantra does not entitle you to wear bitchiness like a badge. Single moms might pull out their attitude when needed, but you can be kickass while still being kind.

What this mantra is all about is that some people aren’t going to like your personality, your looks or your kids. And that’s ok. Shake the dust off your feet and walk away. It’s their loss.

My kids don’t define me.

When you think about who you are, Mom might just be the most important word. However, that doesn’t mean your children get to define who you are.

The kickass single mom lives for her kids. She would die for her kids. But she also knows that there is more to her than the other people in the house vying for her attention.

We all stumble and fall. I get up and carry on.

No one needs to tell this to a single mom. From a messy divorce to a toddler meltdown in the store, you will face setbacks large and small.

The mantra that’s going to carry you through those hard times is knowing everyone falls, but you are strong enough to stand up and keep going.

I am more than my circumstances.

Another mantra worth putting on auto-repeat in your brain? You are more than the collection of events that led to this point in your life.

You are more than a divorce, a death, a birth, a job loss. You are a kickass mom who has a vibrant personality, unique talents and a future waiting to be embraced.

I am doing the best with what I’ve been given.

Don’t let anyone tell you kickass single moms don’t have doubts. We have doubts every single day. But we don’t linger on those. Instead, we change the record in our head and focus on the positive. We put on one of these mantras instead:

I am a mom who loves her kids.

I am a cook who tries new things.

I am a worker who gives 100 percent.

I am a person who deserves to be loved.

I am kickass.
