About Oscar Heyman
The original Oscar Heyman was one of three brothers who founded Oscar Heyman & Brothers in New York City in 1912. The brothers had immigrated from eastern Europe where they had learned how to work with and create platinum jewelry. Referring to themselves as a “firm” rather than a design house, Oscar Heyman & Brothers created and patented many new and advanced jewelry designs. In the 1936 World’s Fair, the firm had created jewelry for four of the five brands exhibiting in the House of Jewels (Cartier, Udall & Ballou,Marcus & Company, and Black, Starr, and Frost-Gorham), giving Oscar Heyman the title of “the jeweler’s jeweler”.
In the years that followed, Oscar Heyman continued to make a name for itself by working with some of the biggest names in the jewelry business. Famously, they worked with Cartier to design a necklace for the Taylor-Burton diamond and worked with jewelry designers at Laykin et Cie in California to provide an estimated one million dollars for the film “Imitation of Life” in 1959.
Today, Oscar Heyman has a workshop and design studio in New York City and works with jewelry brands and fine jewelry retailers to sell their stunning jewelry across the world.
