About F.P. Journe Watches

F. P. Journe is an abbreviation for Francois-Paul Journe, the founder of the F.P. Journe watch company. F.P. Journe is a member of AHCI, a renowned association of watch artists. The motto of the company is ‘Invenit et Fecit’ which means ‘invent and make’. This motto refers to the fact that F.P. Journe designs and manufactures all parts of the watches it creates.

F.P. Journe has designed several unique watch movements – one of these movements is known as the Resonance chronometer. The Resonance chronometer was inspired by a resonance watch worn by the King of France. In 1983, F.P. Journe created its first Resonance pocket watch and later created a wristwatch as well.

Francois-Paul Journe was born in 1957 in Marseilles which is where he began his 15 year education at a local watch-making school.  In 1976, Journe was given his watch-making diploma in Paris and in 1985 he opened his first shop in Paris. Also in that same year, Journe joined the AHCI. In 1989, Journe worked with other watchmakers in the Swiss Jura.

In 1996, Journe moved to Geneva to begin creating watches without the help of any other watchmaker.  In 1999, Journe presented two of his own watch collections at the AHCI booth – the Tourbillion avec Remontoir d’Egalite and his Resonance chronometer. In a short period of time, Journe began creating his very own uniquely designed watches. F.P. Journe watches feature a reserved valence as well as intricate and beautiful watch movements. These classic watches are stylish, elegant and unique.
