How to Get the Best Value When Selling an Hermes Watch

The quality and experience of an appraiser is one of the most important factors that a watch buyer takes into consideration when purchasing a pre-owned luxury watch. At Worthy, our appraisal process includes an independent appraisal from a world-class watch expert. This ensures that as a  seller, you receive the highest price possible, and the watch buyer can fully trust the merchandise they are receiving.

What Factors Determine the Value of a Hermes?

There are a number of specific factors that watch experts, whether evaluating or buying, will look for when you are selling an Andersen Geneve watch:
  • A proof of purchase authenticating the brand.
  • Age of the watch- new watches are great but older, rarer watch models can often fetch higher prices.
  • Condition of the watch
  • Type of strap featured on the watch
  • Does the owner still have the original packaging?
  • Does the watch feature any precious gems or diamonds?
All of the above factors will aid in authenticating and certifying your watch, as will its specific model and its ability to function. When you sell Andersen Geneve, keep in mind that if your watch has any scuffs or scratches, its value could decrease.
Great experience. Highly recommend Worthy.

About Hermes

Hermes is a well-known French luxury brand founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermes. They produce luxury men’s and women’s wear, jewelry, watches, silk scarves, leather items, perfume, and many other items.  Hermes began their watchmaking business when they decided to hire a Swiss watchmaker in the 1930’s to design their first collection. The collection consisted of both men’s and women’s watches, in 18 carat gold, stainless steel, and platinum.

While Hermes watch brand only consists of a small amount of what the company produces and sells, it certainly stands out as one of their most impressive collections. Hermes is well-known for producing extremely unique pieces, including a heavy duty locket with a watch embedded, as well as the Medor secret watch, which hides its dial behind a movable gemstone. Modern Hermes watches contain many nautically themed collections, drawing inspiration from diving, sailing, and swimming.

What Hermes Collections and Models Sell Best

Arceau: Inspired by an equestrian elegance seen through the Hermes brand, Arceau is the most classical of Hermes watches. Originally designed by Henri d'Origny in 1978, the watches in this collection are full of subtle details. On the dial, are unique slanting numerals to mark the passing of time.

Cape Cod: This watch collection, conceived in 1991 by Henri d’Origny, is an invitation to take to the ocean waves of the East Coast. The design of its numerals are modern with a slight curve at the top, perfectly fitting the case. The double tour strap in this line emulates Hermes belts and proposes a wide variety of leather and of colours.

Clipper:  The Clipper collection, considered to be the ‘sporty’ line of Hermes is also inspired by the ocean. However, more so in a nautical sense. Its bezel is similar to the design of portholes of great 19th-century sailboats with its six rivets in relief. Popular models in the line are the Chrono Diver and tgm.
