About Panerai Watches

Panerai was founded in Florence in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai, who established  a watchmaker storefront and sold maritime gear. Panerai's soon became the supplier of watches for the Italian Navy. The brand’s history is enough to urge any collector to want in on the action. Panerai is known for their significant role in World War II, when they assisted the combat drivers (also known as frogmen) of the Italian Decima Flottiglia MAS with wrist worn driving instruments. Popular Panerai watches include the Luminor and Radiomir wristwatches. Even actor Sylvester Stallone purchased a limited edition Panerai Egiziano when filming the movie Daylight in 2009.

Panerai was also involved in producing watches exclusively for luxury sports brand Ferrari. The collection was called “Ferrari engineered by Panerai” and consisted of the elegant, sports-focused Granturismo and the Scuderai. This collaboration saw the production of 11 models that retailed from $5,000 up to $30,000.
